Objectives:
The central mission of Concordia University's Department of Philosophy is to contribute to the development of critical, informed and open minds. Classes and scholarship within the Department concentrate on the principal philosophical traditions that have influenced Western thought, blended with recent trends in philosophy, especially as they relate to the social and natural sciences.

Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy
Course Description:
Honours in Philosophy: 60 credits

    * 33 credits in Philosophy, including Ethics, Ancient and Modern Philosophy, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Deductive Logic, and three final-year seminars in Epistemology, Metaphysics, and Ethics
    * 27 elective credits in Philosophy at the 200, 300, and 400 level to be chosen in consultation with the Department
    * 30 credits in any department

Major in Philosophy: 36 credits

    * 21 required credits in Philosophy, including Ethics, Ancient Western Philosophy, Epistemology, Metaphysics, Rationalism and Empiricism
    * 15 elective credits in Philosophy
    * 54 elective credits in any department, which may take the form of a Major or a Minor in another department

Minor in Philosophy: 24 credits

    * 6 elective credits from Introduction to Ethics, Epistemology, or Metaphysics
    * 18 elective credits in Philosophy
