Certificate in Early Childhood Education

  • Course description Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

    Program ID: 955

Working with children is a demanding, but inspiring job. Communities are always hunting for enthusiastic and well-trained graduates to fill a variety of dynamic positions in Early Childhood Education. The Early Childhood Education certificate program at Vancouver Career College combines theory and practical knowledge to prepare you for a rewarding career in child care. Core curriculum focuses on child growth and development, guidance skills, relationship building, behaviour management, health, safety and program planning. Students also learn how to use music, drama, art and movement to enable learning. After completing the required courses, students can apply for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certificate through the Early Childhood Education Registry. Hands-on training also plays a key role in the program. There are a number of observation modules designed so that students work with trained educators and Vancouver Career College faculty. Graduates of this program will be ready to embark on careers in the non-profit and profit sectors. There are many Early Childhood Educator positions available in community facilities including day cares, preschools, nursery schools and family service centres.
