First rate education, first name basis
When Lakeland College opened in 1913, there were only 34 students enrolled. Today we have two campuses and nearly 7,000 full- and part-time students --- but Lakeland is as tight-knit as ever.
Our classes are small, so your instructors get to know you --- not just your name but also your wants, needs, hopes, and fears. They can sense when to challenge you and when to cut you some slack. If you have a question or a concern, the door’s always open. And if you need a place to board your horses for the summer, an extra ticket to the basketball game, or a recommendation letter for a job application --- the door’s probably open for that, too.
Lakeland’s comfortable setting allows you to focus on learning. Our award-winning programs are designed to ease your transition into the work force and/or further study at a four-year institution. You’ll get a university-caliber education here --- but without the red tape, the big crowds and the distractions.
Two campuses, one college

Vermilion
Lakeland began here in 1913 as the Vermilion School of Agriculture, and it still has a countryside feel: green lawns, mature trees, and as much sky as you want. A lot of the learning at Vermilion takes place outdoors --- on the college farm, the firefighting school’s training grounds, or the environmental science programs field labs.
But times have changed since 1913, and so has Lakeland’s campus at Vermilion. Today our modern classrooms and computer labs support coursework in more than eight disciplines, including award-winning programs in adventure tourism, interior design, trades and early childhood education.
Enrolment at Vermilion numbers nearly 2,000 today, with more than 500 of those students living on campus, a few minutes’ walk from the classrooms. It’s the more rural of our two campuses --- offering a true small-town college experience.

Lloydminster
Built in the 1990s, our Lloydminster campus has a modern, urban sensibility. But everything’s housed under one roof, creating a distinct sense of community togetherness. You keep running into the same people --- in the classrooms, the weight room, the library, the Vic Juba Community Theatre --- and before long everybody knows each other. It’s like a big family.
And it’s getting bigger. Lloydminster’s a boom town, and our campus is growing right along with it. The plush new Bill Kondro wing, set to open in time for the 2008-09 academic year, will feature a student lounge equipped with plasma TVs, a state-of-the-art computer lab and a high-tech demonstration site for the nursing school.

Lakeland’s Lloydminster campus provides instruction to more than 500 students in seven disciplines. The basketball and volleyball teams play here, and there’s always something going on in the gym, at the theatre, or in the city just a few blocks away.
Straddling the border—The City of Lloydminster
Big city amenities with a small town heart, the City of Lloydminster has a population of 25,000 and growing. At the centre of heavy oil production, Lloydminster is also a regional hub for people in eastern Alberta and western Saskatchewan.
