    College Success Skills
    Enhance and strengthen your skills for success for college and career. Emphasis is on personal management, study skills, and critical thinking.

    Collaborative Practices
    Explore the principles of leadership and teamwork including decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, advocacy and lifelong development.

    Professional Practices
    This course addresses ethical and professional practices in human services, such as personal and professional boundaries, self care, stress management and the role of life long learning.

    Trends and Issues in Human Services

    Study human services from a historical perspective. Examine trends, values and issues associated with support for individuals with disabilities, and family functioning dynamics.

    Family and Society Studies
    This course addresses cultural competency as well as family functioning, parenting and learning from families. Family issues such as violence, neglect and abandonment are explored.

    Therapeutic Communication
    This course focuses on specific aspects of effective communication practices and the development of cultural sensitivity and competence.

    Individualized Program Planning
    Prerequisite: EACP 160 Introduction to Exceptionalities or equivalent. This course examines the principles of program plan development, including skills in observation, data collection, goal setting and report writing.

    Developing Resiliency
    This course focuses on the concept of resiliency in children, families and communities including factors that contribute to resiliency and factors that limit resiliency.

    Introduction to Early Intervention
    This course focuses on working with families and other human service professional personnel, including a review of the development of early intervention practice.

    Child Development - Multicultural Perspectives
    This course examines the typical and atypical development of infants and young children, with an emphasis on multicultural perspectives.

    Community Based Practice
    Become familiar with the broad array of services offered through government and non-government agencies and organizations within the community.

    Assessment, Planning and Strategies
    Examine the evolution of family centred practice in early intervention including key principles of effective family centred practice, including principles of individualized intervention programs.

    Practicum I
    Concepts and skills learned in the classroom are applied in community settings through placement with educational/community service agencies.

    Practicum II
    Pre-requisite is Practicum I or departmental approval.

    Practicum III
    Pre-requisite is Practicum II or departmental approval.

    Introduction to e-Portfolio
    This course introduces you to e-portfolio philosophy and software. Create and maintain an e-portfolio that emphasizes your personal, educational, and career goals.

    Career Skills Evaluation
    This final course in the college success series helps you assess your employment skills and design a professional development plan as you prepare to transition from college to the workplace.
