  • Objectives
    The Pauline Jewett Institute of Women's and Gender Studies welcomes students who are interested in the study of women, gender and feminism in contemporary and historical contexts using a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Students who enroll in one of our undergraduate degree programs in Women's Studies may choose from a wide range of courses in subject areas including globalization, activism, diversity, human rights, health, girlhood, violence, literature, and feminist theories and methodologies. The courses focus on exploring the ways gender intersects with other structures of power including race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, age and ability in shaping ways of thinking and understanding the world around us.

    Note: other courses may be substituted for the credits specified above in Items 4 and 5 above when material on gender and/or women is central to the course. Such substitutions must be individually approved by the Institute of Women's and Gender Studies.
