Research methods:
Students must demonstrate proficiency in research methods appropriate for the thesis research. To complete the requirement they may select at least 3 credit hours of research methods course work as approved by the thesis committee.

Elective courses
Elective courses allow students to focus on individual interests and may support the particular research focus. Students complete at least 3 credit hours. If you have satisfied the methods requirement through previous course work, you will take an additional 3 credit hours of electives.
Thesis
A thesis requires original research under faculty supervision. You will present the thesis work orally before your thesis committee. The thesis requires at least one semester of full-time work (and/or a longer period of part-time study). PLAN 9000.15 Planning Studies Thesis
