Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering

  • Objectives Civil Engineering involves the planning and construction of complex physical facilities such as buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels, etc., and the engineering aspects of water resources, waste disposal, transportation, soil mechanics, urban planning, and environmental impact assessment. The Civil Engineering curriculum consists of Engineering core and program core courses, and technical electives. Program core courses, taken by all Civil Engineering undergraduates, include fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, civil engineering materials, systems analysis, water resources and structures. Technical electives allow students to concentrate on a particular area of interest. Students interested in structural, geotechnical and transportation engineering choose courses from Option A, those interested in environmental engineering choose courses from Option B and students interested in the applications of information technology in civil engineering choose from Option C.
  • Practical experience Throughout the program, projects are assigned to enable students to apply the theories learned and to gain practical experience. Particular emphasis is placed on the analysis and design aspects of structures, transportation planning and water resources.

    Designed for students interested in careers instructural, geotechnical, and transportation engineering.
