The Library Commons

The Library Commons at the Barrie and Orillia campuses and the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at the Owen Sound Campus combine library and open learning (computer lab) services in a one-stop facility.

As well as information, these locations provide students with a spacious area where they may relax in the reading lounge, or study in groups or individually.

The Barrie Library Commons is set up for wireless connectivity.

In addition to helping students with research, the libraries provide tours and in-class and individual research instruction. Ask staff to help you find your way through today’s maze of information.

Co-operative Education (Co-op)

We make education work!

Georgian grads get jobs because co-operative education gives them the competitive edge in today’s job market. And Georgian is one of the best! The proof? We’re the third-largest co-op college in Canada - and more than 92 per cent of our graduates find jobs. Co-op is an integral part of many Georgian diploma and degree programs.

If your program does not include a formal co-op component, you’ll likely find that it provides a clinical placement, field placements, internship or other workplace component.

Computer labs on all campuses are routinely updated. Specialty labs exist for programs requiring specific hardware or software like MACs or AutoCAD.

Housing

Students at all three campuses may take advantage of an online housing list. Choose from apartment buildings, rooms in private homes, room and board, or houses to share or rent. Bus services in all three cities make all areas accessible to the campuses.

Residence

Our state-of-the-art residence in Barrie is eight storeys high and houses 525 students in two-bedroom suites. Each suite contains two single bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen with a full-sized fridge and combination microwave/convection oven.

To help you with your transition to college life and residence living, we have staffed the building with extensively trained Residence Assistants (RAs) and Community Advisors (CAs). Whether you have a question or just need someone to talk with, they are here to help.

Parking

All entrances and exits to the College have gates. Upon exiting any campus, payment is required in coins, purchased parking token or parking card. Parking cards can be purchased at each campus. A parking card does not guarantee a parking space; therefore, alternate forms of transportation are encouraged.

Lockers

If you want a place to stash your coat and books while you are on campus, lockers are available to you. Each campus has a mix of full and half lockers available on a first-come, first-served basis. Locker tags are purchased through the Bookstore on each campus for the full year.
