General Characteristics

  • The Javeriana University is a private University, founded in
  • Bogotá in 1623  by the Society of Jesus
  • It operated until 1767, when Jesuits were exiled from the domains of Charles III, King of Spain
  • The Unviersity was reestablished in 1930
  • The Javeriana University is one of the oldest Universities in Colombia, with its main campus in Bogotá and another campus in Cali
  • It is one of the 28 universities entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America (AUSJAL), and one of the 114 worldwide
