  • Objectives
The Mechanical Engineering Technician-Non-Destructive Evaluation program prepares students with the education, training and practical experience necessary to successfully begin their careers in the field of non destructive testing (NDT). At the end of the program, students will be prepared to take certification exams as administered by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB).
  • Practical experience
This program offers co-op opportunities in related industries to qualified students to enhance their practical work experience. However co-op opportunities are very competitive in nature and as such, cannot be guaranteed. A student who has chosen to participate in a co-op semester(s) needs to meet the eligibility criteria as set by the employer and Durham College. Qualified students can participate in co-op placements with various businesses and industries during either the third semester of the program, i.e., the spring and summer period after first year and/or during the fifth or winter semester of the second year. Students will return to the campus to complete their final or sixth semester in the spring/summer period. Qualified students may chose to participate in one or two coop opportunities. Successful completion of the co-op opportunity is required for transcript documentation. All students will graduate with a two year technician diploma. Students who have successfully completed a co-op opportunity will have this recorded on their academic transcript.
